Good morning Everyone,
Good morning Parents and Students, I would like to send out a Big HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of you!! I hope you all have a nice restful day:)
Congratuations to everyone who participated in the Carmina performance!! You all did a wonderful job!!
What's Happening this Week?
May 15 - Spring Fling Concert for all of the bands. Start time is 7:30 pm.
May 19 - End of year band/marching band picnic. The picnic will be held at the Methodist Church on Old Bridge Road just past Westridge and just before the CVS. Start time in 12:00. If there is anyone out there who would like to help Mr. Glidwell grill that day, please be at the church for 10:00 am. We will also need some student volunteers to help set up. If you are able to help with set up, please be at the church at 10:00 am. The boosters will be providing the hot dogs, hamburgers, condiments, paper products, and drinks. We are asking that those who are in attendance, please bring the sides and desserts. So...if your last name begins with A-L, please bring a side dish and if your last name begins with M-Z, please bring a dessert.
What's Happening Next Week?
May 26 - Band yard sale. Yard sales seem to be pretty successful. Our last one went really well and helped us kick off the new band season. So we have some great items already but could always use more. If you have any gently used in working condition items you would like to get rid of, please consider donating them to the band for this yard sale. The start time for the yard sale is 8:00 am. Please either drop your items off that morning between 7:00 am and 7:30 am. If that time does not work for you, please contact me so other arrangements can be made. We could always use folding tables, so if you have any of those and you don't mind loaning them to us, we would greatly appreciate it. One last thing...if at noon all of the items have not sold, we will take them to Salvation Army unless you state otherwise.
May 29 - Tuesday/Thursday marching band practices begin. Practice will run from 6:00-8:00 pm.
I want to send a BIG THANK YOU to the parents who chaperoned the Kings Dominion trip this past Saturday. They braved the questionable weather like troopers and were greatly appreciated. Without parents like yourselves, trips like that would not happen, so I thank you.
I have just a few announcements for this week:
Color Guard and Drum Major clinics/tryouts are this week. That's right kids...MARCHING BAND is here. You can stop wandering around aimlessly trying to figure out what to do with yourself. The Drum Major clinic is from 2:30-4:30 every day and the Color Guard clinic/tryouts are from 4:30-6:30 every day. Both begin today.
The senior scholarship info sheet is in the band room and on our web page. Please keep an eye on the deadlines and follow the instructions. Good luck to all the seniors who apply.
The Michigan University Jazz Band is coming to town. To those who have volunteered a bed or who have volunteered food, a BIG THANK YOU to you. Ms. Wood greatly appreciates your efforts. She told me she does not need any more food donations...that is all covered. If you did email me and state you would bring food, please have it at the school by 5:30. I am not sure of the location for drop off yet, but hope she will let me know soon. If you emailed me and said you had room to house one of the students, I have passed that info on to Ms. Wood for coordination directly with you. If that does not happen, please let me know and I will try to obtain information for you. I believe they still need housing arrangements so if you didn't respond before, you still have a chance. Just email Ms. Wood directly at woodte@pwcs.edu as it will be quicker.
The minutesfor the March General Booster meeting have been prepared and forwarded to Mr. Bayne for posting on the web page. Please check this week and look them over before our General Booster Meeting on May 3rd at 7:00 in the band room.
The talent show is this Friday and some of the members of the drumline have put together a performance of their own. If you are available on Friday, please come out and support them as I am sure the performance is going to be very entertaining.
